From the very first donation to the completed hospital, our team delivers construction projects, modern medical equipment, and life-saving supplies directly to where they are needed most. Our goal is clear: Reliable “Solidarity Medicine” that is accessible to everyone.

The association “Hilfe für Krankenhausbau und Nothilfe in Ghana e.V.” was founded by Dr. Okae in June 2016 and was immediately entered into the association register at the District Court of Dortmund under entry VR7132. In February 2018, its non-profit status was officially recognized by the Dortmund-Hörde tax office.
to endeavor, through direct approach of natural persons, institutions, and legal entities, to collect goods and other items that are no longer required but remain fit for purpose, and to supply them to persons in need as well as hospitals or clinics.
In pursuit of this scope of tasks, the Association shall also engage in public relations work and, to this extent, issue publications and statements.
To achieve the statutory purpose, the Association shall, in particular, be active in the following fields:
In emergency relief through: emergency water supply, procurement of emergency shelters, food, medication, delivery of medical equipment, etc.
Educational measures and campaigns.
Awareness-raising and public relations work.

About the founder
Dr. Samuel Okae is a Ghanaian-German trauma and orthopedic surgeon who founded the Ghanaian-German Specialist Hospital in Accra. Born in December 1979 in Tamale, Ghana, he moved to Germany in 2000 to pursue his medical education. He completed his medical studies at the Charité University in Berlin and later specialized in trauma and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Okae’s inspiration for the hospital project stemmed from his experiences during a malaria project in Ghana in 2005, where he witnessed the inadequate medical care and high child mortality rates. Determined to make a difference, he began saving and planning for the hospital. In 2010, he purchased land in Accra, and construction began in 2011. The hospital is designed to have a capacity of 130 beds and aims to provide free medical care for children under five years old.
He continues to oversee the construction remotely from Germany, coordinating with local teams and shipping necessary materials.
In 2016, he founded the non-profit association „Hilfe für Krankenhausbau in Ghana e.V.“ to support the hospital’s development and ensure its sustainability. The association focuses on fundraising, procuring medical equipment, and facilitating the shipment of donations to Ghana.
Dr. Okae’s commitment to improving healthcare in Ghana reflects his dedication to addressing disparities in medical access and providing quality care to vulnerable populations.
